In the 1952 United States Open held at Northwood Club in Dallas, while still a member of his college golf team, Stan set the then all-time back nine tournament scoring record by firing a 31. Stan was a member of the legendary North Texas State College golf team, winning four straight NCAA championships. From 1977 until his retirement in 2002, Stan was Head Professional at Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Stan was the Head Professional at Essex Fells CC, Essex Fells, NJ for 20 years from 1956 to 1976.
